Appointments & Questions

New Clients Welcome!

At Annapolis Cat Hospital, we understand that your cat is like a member of your family, and that means the thought of your cat undergoing surgery is stressful. Your cat’s safety is our #1 priority. This means we take every precaution available to maximize each patient’s safety during surgery and ensure a smooth recovery.

We approach every procedure with the patient’s individual case in mind. After considering all factors, such as your cat’s age, gender, breed, and lifestyle, your veterinarian will discuss all possible treatment options with you so together you can make the best decision for your pet’s health.

Our veterinarians regularly perform a range of routine and general surgeries, including:

Spay & Neuter

We recommend all our patients undergo the spay or neuter procedure. In addition to preventing unwanted litters, spaying or neutering your pet has many health benefits. For female cats, spaying prevents mammary and ovarian cancers, while for male cats, neutering minimizes the risk of testicular and prostate cancers. The procedure also reduces sexual instincts that lead to unwanted behaviors, such as aggressive behavior, roaming, and spraying.

For more reasons to spay or neuter your pet, see Dr. Longo in our video below.

Umbilical Hernia

An umbilical hernia is a protrusion of the abdominal lining, abdominal fat, or a portion of the abdominal organs through the area around the belly button, called the umbilicus. An umbilical hernia occurs when a kitten’s umbilical ring does not close completely after birth. Surgery is required to close a hernia that will not close on its own. When caught early, umbilical hernia surgery can be paired with your kitten’s spay/neuter procedure.

Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft tissue surgery encompasses any surgery not related to the bones or joints. Our medical team is highly experienced in a variety of soft tissue procedures, including:

  • Abscesses
  • Bladder stone removal
  • C-sections
  • Ear hematomas
  • Exploratory surgery (abdomen)
  • Gastrointestinal foreign body removal
  • Tumor removal

If you have any questions about the procedures we offer or the surgery process in general, please call our office. We are happy to answer any and as many questions as you have.
